A Catholic education draws on a long heritage of faith. Yet in the Baltimore Archdiocese, it’s also very contemporary, with 3-D printers in every high school. That’s the identity we were asked to create: a look which captured the heritage of the Archdiocese—the nation’s oldest—yet positioned Catholic schools as a modern choice for K–12 education.
We responded with a new logo and graphic design that kept the historic colors of the Archdiocese, yet presented them in a bold new way. We also developed a new theme line, “Rise Above,” that invoked both the outstanding quality of a Catholic education and the moral and spiritual dimension that parents wanted for their children.
The response? Energetic and overwhelming approval from a convocation of Catholic educators, and a new appreciation for the combination of traditional values and high-tech education.
